Starry Nights 1888

The painting Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh (1853–90) is one of history’s most famous depictions of a living night sky. It dates back to a time just before the electric light took over the cityscape, when the natural night with its star fireworks was public property. It’s easy to interpret the painting’s swirling depictions.

Starry Night is but one in a line of night motifs.

Café Terrace at Night, 1888 by Vincent Van Gogh

Van Gogh’s mood wrote that “the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day.”

In this series, there is also The Starry Night Over The Rhone by Vincent Van Gogh.
